It is the festival on the 23rd or 24th of the 12th month of the lunar year, when sacrifices are made to the kitchen God
小年是腊月二十三或二十四日，旧俗这天祭灶。
It is said on the day, the Kitchen God will go to Heaven to report the good and evils of the family to the Jade Emperor, the supreme ruler of Heaven. Then the Jade Emperor will decide his rewards and punishments based on the Kitchen God’s reports.
民间传说，每年腊月二十三，灶王爷都要上天向玉皇大帝禀报这家人的善恶，让玉皇大帝赏罚。
Families offer candies to the Kitchen God to “bribe” him into saying good things in front of the Jade Emperor.
各家各户向灶神提供祭灶糖，“贿赂”他在玉皇大帝面前说好话。
Candy made of maltose is offered to the Kitchen God as a sacrifice.
由麦芽糖制成的糖果被供奉给灶神作为祭品。
